Poker

Generally, poker is played with a minimum of five players. The highest hand wins the pot. In case of a tie, the highest unmatched fifth card wins.

The first round of betting begins with the player left of the button. This is known as the ante. This is a small bet, typically one dollar or five dollars. Once the ante is paid, the player receives two cards.

The dealer has the last right to shuffle the cards. If the dealer does not shuffle, the player who opened the pot can hide the cards or discard them.

After each round, the player who has been active all the time shows his or her hand. The first player to do so shows the hand that has the highest card. The other players reveal their hands one at a time. This continues until all players have shown.

If there are ties, the highest card breaks them. If there are two ties, the high card is used to determine the winner.

A pair is two cards of the same rank. When two pairs are compared, the second highest card breaks the ties. If there are no pairs, the highest card breaks the ties.

A flush is five cards of the same suit in any order. If there are two flushes, the high card determines which one is the higher flush.

If two pairs of the same rank are compared, the second highest card breaks ties. When there are no ties, the high card determines the winner.
